do not disturb...

Yeah, so while I was home at lunch today I wrote this super-cute blog post about how today is my two-year anniversary. I even thoughtfully linked all three of the past blog posts which have the wedding pictures. There was an adorablespice "do not disturb" image, too. It was all very posh and romantical. Then, at the end of the post, I linked a picture of the two of us. But it was completely heinous, so I went to remove it. And when I did, my entire post DISAPPEARED. And I tried to exit out before blogger saved said BLANK mother-lovin' post, but the damage was done. An entire post. Eaten for lunch. By blogspot. #Damnitalltohell. Yup, it's just been that kind of week. Our air conditioner is on the fritz, and it's currently 82 god forsaken degrees in my house. Plus, I am so hormonal, I could kick a puppy. Hubs better not expect sex tonight in this sweltering climate. (Were hubs to read this, he would probably say he's waaay past expecting sex. I t...

TMI Thursday: inappropriate hubs

Well, it's a two-fer this week! You get your usual dose of TMI Thursday and a pearl of wisdom from my husband... all in one fail swoop. (I am the queen of cliche, today, apparently. By the way.) Also, for the second week in a row, hubs humor will come from a reality tv anecdote! (On the couch during prime time is really the only point in the day that we communicate with one another. You understand.) So, I was getting my guilty-pleasure-sized dose of American's Got Talent last night, and these adorable sisters auditioned -- they sang a moving rendition of Miley Cyrus' It's the Climb . (Yes, I teared up a little. I'm pregnant. And therefore allowed.) See, these sisters (along with their two other siblings) suffer from Cystic Fibrosis. The were never supposed to be able to sing well -- and their life expectancy is only 35-40 years. So sad. It was heart-wrenching to watch them overcome all odds, musically speaking, and the standing ovation from the crowd just ...

TMI Thursday: fetus and fornication

Hubs and I have only gotten jiggy with it twice since I found out I have a bun in the oven. I mean, my libido hasn't really gone down much -- twice in six weeks was pretty much par for our course lately. How I got pregnant at all is still a complete and utter mystery (or at least a warning signal to all those occasional unprotected-sex-havers out there.) (And, I guess, excuses hubs from having asked, "Is it mine?" when I initially told him that I was knocked up.) Anycum, the reason we haven't had much sexy-time is because 1) I can no longer be taken advantage of in drunken moments of "let's get it on, wife" in which I am the wife and I am the drunk... and 2) It makes me uncomfortable. Let's explore number two. I know, I know. It's really ridiculous. But, seriously. I mean, there's a fetus in there listening to mommy's "o-voice" in what I can only assume is like the most serious surround-sound system ever. (You know: ...

heroic (and humorous) hubs

Bird Update Hubs discovered the reason the bird's nest was gone last night. It had fallen off the porch light and was hiding behind our shrubbery -- along with the little baby birdies, who had been tossed from the nest and lay quivering in the dirt. After a little online research, an almost-teary-eyed hubs pulled on his new gardening gloves (I watched his back so as to warm him of the approach of the angry Mamma Bird) and scooped the little ones back into their nest home... and he stood on our his beer cooler to return the nest to its original spot. A little while later, Mamma Bird returned with food and was perched back atop her new arrivals. I planned to blog earlier, and thought this story might have a happy ending. Sadly, the nest has fallen again. I just arrived home from work -- it's Friday evening -- and there is no nest. I assume it's in the bushes, but I am not going to look. Hubs might look when he gets here. (Since I'm pregnant, I can't be arou...

leave all your toxins at the feet of the porcelain god

Morning sickness is crap. It's like being hungover on a daily basis, except I didn't do anything fun the night before. I got sick for the first time yesterday morning, after composing my post. Then, this morning right after I woke up, I had the urge to dry heave. Blech! Yesterday, when I told hubs I'd gotten all pukified, he said, "Good." I was all, "Padon?" Hubs explained he learned on the internets that morning sickness means mommy-to-be is expelling toxins, so that it is a good thing for me to be praying to the porcelain god right now. I don't know his sources -- hubs isn't really a senk-ya-the-link kinda guy. However, two evolutionary biologists from Cornell agree with him. (I'll bet they are dudes.) Telling pregnant people morning sickness is good... bravespice. Now, where the hell are my saltines?! In other news, I had a strange dream last night. In said dream, I was driving around Pennsylvania with my parents looki...

btw -- don't divorce me

As you well know, hubs and I were in the midst of World War XVI: Vacationgate 2010, when I found out I was preggers last Thursday. Since we weren't really speaking to each other, I knew I had to tell him immediately -- so I was ready and waiting when he got home from work and stomped through our front door. "Hey, hubs. Question. Are you going to divorce me if I go to Destin with my family this summer?" "Maybe. I should !" (Hubs claims he is easy going. Sometimes I beg to differ. Obvi.) "You shouldn't divorce me." I pulled the pregnancy test from it's hiding spot under my shirt and kind of flung it at him. I didn't mean to drop it, but the lid came off and the whole shee-bang fell on the arm chair, in the midst of a pile of clothes which should have been in the hamper. "What is that?" Hubs was confused. "It's the reason you shouldn't divorce me. Duh." I found the pee-covered stick and handed it to hi...

everything but the kitchen sink

Yesterday, I made a promise. I promised my husband that I would do the dishes tonight. This is not awesome. The sink is full to overflowing and I have a sneaking suspicion that the majority of the dishes and utensils may be best described as crusty. The predicament is that I have not done dishes in um, over a week. Granted, that's only 4 or so actual meals in the Murphy household. Typically, we eat at least one frozen pizza per week, which requires minimal cleanup. We never cook breakfast (unless it's at dinner time!) and when I do come home for lunch, I heat up something lean-cuisine-ish and dirty only a fork. Then there are the nights -- like tonight -- when I bring home Qboda and chew away stress. (Chicken nachos > antidepressants.) I'm procrastinating... there are several items that are daunting me more than a little: there's a casserole dish from shepherd's pie which is soaking at the bottom of the sink like long-buried treasure, certain to be alg...
