more cool than uncool

Uncool Things About Today I was supposed to have my second baby-doctor's appointment today, but apparently, my OBGYN has more patients than just me, and one of them decided to go into labor. Sadly, I busted my hump to get out of work with enough time to scarf down a bite to eat before my 2:00 appointment time, and didn't get the voicemail about needing to reschedule the visit until I was pulling into the frakking parking lot. Oh well. Cool Things About Today Since I'd already broken out of the office (okay, the bank branch, but doesn't "the office" sound cool-er?) I decided not to go back this afternoon. I'm working the Saturday morning hours, so I don't have to use personal time -- I just won't get any overtime this week. With free time in front of me, I drove around in the late May heat with my air conditioner cranked and my sunglasses on, drinking iced tea and making eyes at hot boys in hot cars next to me at red lights. (Can't s...

i want to stay LOST forever

As soon as the LOST camp announced an end-date for the show a few years back, I pleaded with the Big Guy upstairs: " Please don't let anything happen to me before then! I really, really, really want to know how LOST ends!!" The series finale was last night. The series finale was magical, worthy, and wonderful. My life is completespice: I saw how LOST ended. Of course, there are still questions. If you are a huge follower of the show, there are still things left unsaid, mysteries not fully explained -- hell, the last twenty minutes alone raised more questions! I. don't. care. LOST is still the best.show.ever. Here are my top-ten-off-the-top-of-my-head burning questions: 1. Since Jacob "touched" the castaways and brought them to the island for a reason, he had to have orchestrated the plane crash (i.e. he had to cause the pilot to turn off course -- or at least cause the transceiver to stop working -- and he also had to ensure that Desmond would...

i cry like a girl, and i watch my television closer than my finances

I must be a girl. Several things made me cry -- like actual wet tears on face -- today. I am not ashamed to admit the first thing that opened up my tear ducts (faster than chopping an onion) was American Idol. Finding out who makes it to the Top 24 (i.e. the-performance-round-which-is-all-that-really-matters) is one of the highlights of the Idol season. Tonight's episode revealed 7 of the lucky 12 guys and the lucky 12 gals who are younger than me have the chance of a lifetime. When that gal Didi found out she made it? Yup, I went all sobspice. Cause her friend died and stuff. And, she had on a cute hat. And, she sang a Kara Dioguardi song during Hollywood week. I heart her! Secondly, I cried when I noticed the state of disorder which is my checkbook. (Bankers sometimes get overdrawn, too.) Luckily, I have that credit line which spots me in fifty dollar increments. So it isn't like I got any transactional overdraft fees. (If that had happened, I'd probably s...

Ten Reasons Flash Forward Rocks

10.) The premise is cool: A mysterious global event causes everyone to black out simultaneously for two minutes and seventeen seconds, and each person sees a glimpse of their lives six months from now. When they wake up, everyone is left wondering if what they saw will actually happen. 09.) Joseph Fiennes. Sigh. I want to pull out my VHS copy of Shakespeare in Love and listen to him say "You will never age for me, nor fade, nor die. "  08.) The series was adapted for the small screen; it is based on the 1999 novel of the same name by Canadian author Robert J. Sawyer. Sawyer's work is said to "frequently explore the intersection between science and religion, with rationalism always winning out over mysticism." ( wikipedia .) Yeah, I'm going to be reading this book! 07.) Actors from Lost! Sonya Walger (Penelope Widmore) soars as trauma surgeon Olivia Benford,  and I can't wait to see Dominic Monaghan's (Charlie Pace, RIP) character Simon ...

WTF Wednesday

I had a goal to blog every day this week. My quest was almost thwarted by my husband's addiction to online gaming. Grr, I'm irritated again, as much as I was on Monday. I did, however, get to watch whatever I wanted on t.v. This leads me to the following list of items that all beg the question: WTF? I DVR-ed The Vampire Diaries last week, and just got around to watching it tonight. I'm a little bit disturbed by it and a little bit in love with it. WTF? I was hesitant to begin the Twilight saga, to be one of thoooose, but after picking up the first book I was, of course, hooked. Yes, I've admitted it now, and it's a weight of my chest. Whew. I caught a minute of Jay Leno's new 10:00 slot, and he did this little bit about "back to school" tools. After stating that books on tape are out -- oh, and that books on paper are, too -- he pulled out a twitter book idea. Classics are condensed to fit the 140 character limit. Hardy-har. However, his example ...
