what I've done, what I should be doing, and what I am doing...

What I've done today: * Made a list of things I still need to do * Drank my daily allotment of coffee (sadly, 1.5 small cups) * Organized the baby loot Bath Items. Kitchen Aisle. * Ordered a few a massive amount of baby things from Target online What I should be doing: * Completing the tape-the-nursery-walls since my mom and mother-in-law are coming over tomorrow afternoon to help paint! And since I told said mother-in-law that we've already finished taping... whoops! Remember the M & M people?! They've been primed-over. Hubs cried. He said the yellow one ended like Old Yeller. * Finishing the cleaning of the living room, then obsessively scrubbing the laundry room to complete my deep clean. * Spot cleaning the rest of the house, as to keep it clean now that my "deep clean" is basically complete. * Taking the final--ish load of giveaways to Goodwill * Going to the daycare I chose... to pay my deposit and, also, begging to God I ...

a sober vacation: or, in which i drank o'douls

Vacation was a complete and utter... success! Let's not talk about getting up this morning -- although I have enjoyed returning to the workforce with bronzed arms and legs. This was day one: pre-bronzed body parts. The baby-makers. Impregnated, designated driver. View from our balcony. Note the clear water... but also note the lack of beach. This has nothing to do with the oil spill... apparently the shore has just eroded. They are supposed to get replacement sand... eventually. It was actually kind of nice: no trudging across hot, dry sand to get to the salt water! Seriously, though. Lack of beachspice. With a beach buddy like this, though... who could complain about anything? Well, bloggy world: I'm back. What have I missed in your lives? Which posts in my overflowing google-reader are can't miss? Who missed me the mostest?

castles in the sand

I'll be unplugged next week while I'm at the beach getting my vacay on. Yes, I know you'll miss me, but absence makes the heart grow even fonder! For the record, I am quite behind on my google reader. I'm hoping to catch up and visit all your fabulous blogs before I leave. Mama loves you! In other news, is this not awesome?! ... I'll be back next week with photos galore of my bathing suit baby bump (which will probably be made up of about 14 pounds of peel-and-eat shrimp and other beachy treats. If I can't drink frozen adult beverages, you'd better believe I'll be reaching levels of intoxication via food.) Good-bye, land lubbers. I'm beach bound!

TMI Thursday: nah, just a regular post

TMI Thursday is becoming a chore. As much as I love to regale you with my tales of woespice and irresponsibility, these moments of insanity are now fewer and farther between as I can no longer use alcohol as fodder for my blog-worthy behavior. This morning I was all, Aw, man: it's Thursday. What do I have for my TMI post? Nothing. So, perhaps I'll just post TMI's sporatically for the next few. Sorry to disappoint. *hangs head.* In normal news, my vacation starts as soon as I leave the bank tomorrow evening! Hoorayyyyyspice. I'm so ready for fun in the sun. I need a break, and I can't wait to arrive in Destin early Sunday morning. My niece and I have plans for lots of pool time. We even practiced on Memorial Day weekend. Please review: always pose by the pool in a cute dress. hold on to aunt amber for dear life. remove mascara before getting in next time. (applies to aunt amber only. obvi.) Wear bikini to infuriate daddy, pappaw, and uncle murph! (on...

if you're happy and you know it... make a list

Bank Monday holidays are the best. A solid, uninterrupted weekend -- even if one is forced to put in a few Saturday hours, as this one was -- and Monday off on the company's dime. Blissspice. However, a Tuesday at the bank after a Monday holiday is not so utopian and sometimes makes an employee forget why it was worth it to have a day off at all. So, yes. Today has been a bit stressful. I'd like to take this opportunity to remind myself of all the things that make me happy. Things that make me grin 1. Lunch hour. Eating hubs homemade tuna on yummy whole grain bread, even though we're at the end of the loaf and I had to use the heel. 2. Making sweet tea in my Mr. Coffee Iced Tea Maker. Drinking said sweet with ice. Ice is nice. I like ice. 3. My 2010 reading total: 48 books . As of July 6th, I'm only two books off the pace. I WILL read 100 books this year. (Know of any good short books? I'm obvi going to need to pad my stats a little.) 4. Classic coll...

updatables

Vacationgate 2010 Hubs has decided to go with my family and me to Destin next month! (He says he told me that he "would go" on the day I told him I was pregnant, which was smack in the middle of Vacationgate, when hubs did not want to go... nor did he want me to go and stay in my parents' condo for free. If you'll recall, I was going to go regardless.) So, I booked our condo today. Instead of me going for free, hubs and I are both going and spending $749.00 for the condo alone. Hubs didn't want to be left out after all. But, you know. It's cool. This will be our last babyless vacation. Who needs new windows anyway? 2010 Reading Challenge May was a productive reading month. I've now read a total of 34 books this year. If I can read 16 books in the month of June, I'll be halfway to my goal of 100 books for this calendar year. Word. (Or, should I say... words?) WIP-Progess Still slim to none since learning I am "with child" eight-...

btw -- don't divorce me

As you well know, hubs and I were in the midst of World War XVI: Vacationgate 2010, when I found out I was preggers last Thursday. Since we weren't really speaking to each other, I knew I had to tell him immediately -- so I was ready and waiting when he got home from work and stomped through our front door. "Hey, hubs. Question. Are you going to divorce me if I go to Destin with my family this summer?" "Maybe. I should !" (Hubs claims he is easy going. Sometimes I beg to differ. Obvi.) "You shouldn't divorce me." I pulled the pregnancy test from it's hiding spot under my shirt and kind of flung it at him. I didn't mean to drop it, but the lid came off and the whole shee-bang fell on the arm chair, in the midst of a pile of clothes which should have been in the hamper. "What is that?" Hubs was confused. "It's the reason you shouldn't divorce me. Duh." I found the pee-covered stick and handed it to hi...

tmi thursday: in which part two is making me sweat bullets

Well, this is going to be a treat. Especially part two. Part one You may recall that I posted the other day about Vacationgate: 2010 , in which hubs and I argued about whether or not we should head to Destin with my parentals and siblingspice this summer, and that my loving mother invited me to go with them virtually for free (I'd just pay for my food) -- since the Murphys are not made of money and have made many poor financial decisions which subsequently require a more pratical use of their tax refund than a smack-in-the-middle-of-the-season trip to the beach. We're still fighting. I discovered that the condo in question has a stay three nights, get one free offer going on. The room would only cost us $640.00, which is considerably less than I thought it would be. So, I told hubs about it over an email during the work day yesterday. He did not respond, so, last night on the couch, I asked him casually what he thought about it. "I still think it will co...

i need a vacation, but at what cost?

This summer, my family is planning to go on vacation together. My mom and dad, and my sister and her husband (along with one or both of their kids) are heading to Destin, Florida in July. Everyone is renting their own condo at a beautifulspice resort. Of course, the whole gang wants Mr. and Mrs. Amber Murphy to join them. See. Here's the thing. Hubs and I would never choose to go on vacation smack dab in the middle of the summer. Everything is more crowded, and everything is more expensive. However, the trip date revolves around my sister's nursing school schedule (ends in late May) and my niece's regular school schedule (she starts kindergarden in early August.) So, the date is non-negiotable. Hubs doesn't really want to go. He would rather do our own thing for vacay, and choose where and when we travel. Basically, he doesn't want to spend the money. It's true that our lovely tax return could be spent more wisely. We could put some of that money towar...

Staycation Comes to a Close

I wonder if it's against the rules to blog on Sunday. It seems that no one really does, or at least not with regularity. Where are you, blog world? You must be attending church or football games or spending time with your family or catching up on housework. Where I am? Right here, at my laptop, surfing the internet, writing, popping my head up over the screen to catch a minute or two of the 1:00 football games. Per usual, I am avoiding the housework like the plague. Really need to start laundry, though, and complete it before my girl's dinner tonight at the Tequila Factory. We're celebrating the birthday of one of my teacher friends, who swears the evening will be tame, as she has to be present at middle school math classes in the morning. It is my last day of my staycation, and the thought of heading into work tomorrow has my proverbial panties in a bunch... especially when there is Tequila in my near future. Nothing says "I'm ready to get back to wo...
