the good, the bad, and the fat...

I think I just had a huge endorphin rush when I opened this new post. So much to share... where shall I start? The Good The Bad I went shopping for clothes on Sunday, as I no longer own pants that both zip and fit. I've been wearing maternity pants ever since I went back to work last month, and it's getting a bit ridic. However, it made me sadspice to purchase pants in a double digit size. Gone are the lovely size 6 and 8 pants that I was able to wear this time last year. Hello, size 14. That's right, I said it. Size 14. Now, before you dub me a vain cow instead of just a cow, keep in mind that while I was in college I gained the freshman 15 during each of my four years. Back in 2002, I weighed more than I did when I went into labor in 2010. I spent the better part of my twenties losing my college weight. I did not want those pounds back. (I should have thought more about that while I was feeding my pregnant face with cheese danish.) So, anywaddle, after m...

if you're happy and you know it... make a list

Bank Monday holidays are the best. A solid, uninterrupted weekend -- even if one is forced to put in a few Saturday hours, as this one was -- and Monday off on the company's dime. Blissspice. However, a Tuesday at the bank after a Monday holiday is not so utopian and sometimes makes an employee forget why it was worth it to have a day off at all. So, yes. Today has been a bit stressful. I'd like to take this opportunity to remind myself of all the things that make me happy. Things that make me grin 1. Lunch hour. Eating hubs homemade tuna on yummy whole grain bread, even though we're at the end of the loaf and I had to use the heel. 2. Making sweet tea in my Mr. Coffee Iced Tea Maker. Drinking said sweet with ice. Ice is nice. I like ice. 3. My 2010 reading total: 48 books . As of July 6th, I'm only two books off the pace. I WILL read 100 books this year. (Know of any good short books? I'm obvi going to need to pad my stats a little.) 4. Classic coll...

TMI Thursday: in which i should have said nothing at all

Nice pants, wanna... ? So, a couple of weeks ago the manager at my branch had a super busy day. He didn't even take a lunch! He was literally in his office all day long, bombarded with customer after customer. Suffice it to say, when he came up to the teller area at 4:45, he was famished and informed us that he was going to "lunch" and would see us all on Monday. After the obvious, "Yeah, go on and go. You must be starvingspice!" I went ahead and decided to compliment his wardrobe. (Nothing wrong with staying on his good side!) (Plus, he had on this light purple shirt, a sharp looking tie, and black and white [kindofhot] pin-stripe dress pants.) So, yours truly tells him, "You know, I really like your outfit. I just noticed, because  I haven't seen your pants all day! " One of my tellers turned beet red and burst into boy-giggles. "Are you aware of how that sounds?!" Oh. So, I had to admonish my teller. "Mind! Gutter!...

i'll show you mine if you show me yours

Sometimes I wish I could use this blog as a forum to vent about specific co-worker situations. (I mean, I've semi-done that once, awhile back.) (I'll be honest: it felt amazingspice.) But, I am kind of hesitant to push the boundaries. In this economy, a girl can't be too cautious when it comes to safeguarding her job security. So, I'll keep my luscious lips sealed. All I can say is, TGI-effing F. In other news, I'm exhausted today. Because I am sporty as well as girly, I stayed up until the wee hours last night, intently watching the late basketball games. I'm running the bracket pool at work, and I take great pleasure in circling my own wins with a nice red pen. Oh, what? You want to see my what ? (I'll show you mine if you show me yours.) And here is where I plan to spend the next five or six hours: Yes, there is a beer in the corner. A beer for Ber. I will cheer for Louisville with hubs, a mega Cardinals fan, because I am a supportive wife. ...

take a look at yourself and make a change

In less than two weeks, I start a new job. Usually, musings of amber murphy doesn't really go there. I tend to blog about my (intermittent) questionable behavior/ my writing woes/ my grandma/ procrastination. Occasionally, I do mention the bank, usually when I am in the mood to sucker punch either customers or coworkers in the face. (Sometimes I get a little pissy.) So, in two weeks I will go to work for a different bank. However, in about six weeks, the bank where I currently work will convert into to that same different bank, via a buy-out merger buy-out that has been in the works since October 2008. Change, it is a'blowin' in like wind. I don't much care for change (says the same gal who tried on colleges like they were shoes, attending three schools in four years.) (I graduated, and on time, thankyouverymuch.) And here's my resume -- settle in for a hell of a paragraph -- I have worked at a nineteen screen movie theatre, Old Navy, TJ Maxx, as a ...
