in which i resort to complete hibernation

If you don't follow me on facebook, you aren't aware of the excitement I had this weekend. You clearly weren't privy to my latest status update, in which I admitted that I spent my Saturday evening sleeping. See, hubs and I watched the USA in their World Cup finale, and then we decided to have a little nappy. We crawled under the covers at 5:00 pm, and I figured we'd sleep for a couple of hours. Hubs wanted to go to the driving range in the evening (he's like all into golf now. Preppy, collaredshirtspice!) and I wanted to do a bit of housework aimless twittering, reading, and writing. So, imagine my surprise when I woke up to complete and total darkness. The sun was down, the clock said 10:49 p.m. Whoops! Yeah, my nap lasted six hours. What? You got a problem with that?! (Don't cross me, I'm preggers.) I got up, ate a large bowl of chocolate ice cream, read, watched a little late night boob tube... and before I knew it, a couple hours slid by. Hubs ...

random and candid. per usual.

Hubs is on vacay this week. What a lucky dog. Of course, hubs being in the house all day throws a wrench in my lunch-time blogging routine. So, here I sit, at seven in the morning... I don't write as well in the morning. I've done plenty of posts about how much I am not a morning person. I'll spare you another. Plus, I have to get used to life without much sleep by December, when my little niblet gets here -- or sooner than that, since I hear it will get harder and harder to get any shut eye once the belly really swells up to some ungodly size. Well, this is going swimmingly. I think I need a random five: Those always help. 1. Watched The Lovely Bones this weekend. Adored the book, abhored the movie. Isn't that always the way? 2. When to bed at 10:00 on Saturday night. I couldn't hold my eyes open! I slept like a baby until 8:00 Sunday morning. When I woke, I parked myself on the couch to indulge in the Sunday sit-in. As much as hubs likes to remind me ...

Friday Fatigue: in which I am sleepyspice

You've been warned. This post may be a little sleepy, because I am litearally nodding off as I type these words. So, it's clearly fatespice that I decided to participate in my first Friday Five meme today. 1.How many hours’ sleep do you need in order to be at your best, and what’s the minimum you can get on a regular basis and still be functional? I need eight hours. I prefer more. Sometimes, I sleep ten or twelve hours on the weekends. (Shh. Don't tell people.) I can survive with six hours, but seriously, if I only get six hours my demeanor screams pothead. I either act aloof or braindead, usually both. 2.What’s your favorite sleeping position? Ahh, I love to sleep on my stomach with my arms curled underneath me boobies. (Yes, I basically, feel myself up while I'm sleeping.) Sometimes when I wake up I have no feeling at all in my arms or hands -- or that creepy tingling sensation. 3.What was the cause of your most recent difficulty sleeping? Well, las...

i cry like a girl, and i watch my television closer than my finances

I must be a girl. Several things made me cry -- like actual wet tears on face -- today. I am not ashamed to admit the first thing that opened up my tear ducts (faster than chopping an onion) was American Idol. Finding out who makes it to the Top 24 (i.e. the-performance-round-which-is-all-that-really-matters) is one of the highlights of the Idol season. Tonight's episode revealed 7 of the lucky 12 guys and the lucky 12 gals who are younger than me have the chance of a lifetime. When that gal Didi found out she made it? Yup, I went all sobspice. Cause her friend died and stuff. And, she had on a cute hat. And, she sang a Kara Dioguardi song during Hollywood week. I heart her! Secondly, I cried when I noticed the state of disorder which is my checkbook. (Bankers sometimes get overdrawn, too.) Luckily, I have that credit line which spots me in fifty dollar increments. So it isn't like I got any transactional overdraft fees. (If that had happened, I'd probably s...

Reading Challenge Check-in

Sleepyspice. That's the story of my life, I guess. I stayed up too late last night watching the Grammys. (There were some super weird performances and some moving ones. Enough said.) Can you believe February is here? I'm proud to say that I am well on my way in the 100 book reading challenge for 2010. I just started my ninth book of the year -- Cormac McCarthy's THE ROAD. I'm 70 pages in, and it is so devistatingly good. Here's what I've read so far this year: THE LITTLE FRIEND by Donna Tartt EXTREMELY LOUD & INCREDIBLY CLOSE by Jonathan S. Foer NO WAY TO TREAT A FIRST LADY by Christopher Buckley THE MIDDLE PLACE by Kelly Corrigan MIDDLESEX by Jeffrey Eugenides LOST IN THE FOREST by Sue Miller THE UNBEARABLE LIGHTNESS OF BEING by Milan Kundera HOW TO BE GOOD by Nick Hornby (I'm pretty sure I blogged all these titles after I purchased them all at 1/2 Price Books, but you certainly needed a refresher, right?) I signed up for Goodreads ...
