warm fuzzies

Last Wednesday, Roni over at Fiction Groupie made my day by bestowing upon me the Heartfelt Award! Apparently, I write one of the blogs she has "recently discovered and enjoys." To quote the very witty JmDiazI'd like to thank the bloggcademy.

Do you reach for a cup of cocoa or tea when you're relaxing, seeking comfort, sharing a plate of cookies with family and friends? You know the feeling you get when you drink a yummy cup of cocoa, tea, or a hot toddy? That is what the Heartfelt Award is all about, feeling warm inside. Rules:Put the logo on your blog/post. Nominate up to to 9 blogs which make you feel comfy or warm inside. Be sure to link your nominees within your post. Let them know that they have been nominated by commenting on their blog. Remember to link to the person from whom you received your award.

So, I shall pass the e-torch to my fellow bloggers. Here are my nods to the blogs I stalk read on the regular:

Amber at  A Little Pink in the Cornfields is adorable... and her first name rocks.
Travener at The Big Litowski makes my heart pitter-patter. He is query-tastic!
What really attracted me to Diving into a Writer's Life is Deb's sincerity.
Davin and company over at The Literary Lab provide a great forum for writers of literary fiction.
Busy Bee Lauren's about me section simply says, "Just read my blog. Kthanxbye." I adore her!
A gal whose handle is Pink Flip Flops hosts a new bloggy book club at The Many Thoughts of a Reader.
Jayme at Kentucky Blonde is my favorite southern belle, even if she does occasionally wear Wildcat blue.
I doubt The Rejectionist really cares about this award, but I have to give a shout out in his direction.
Finally, JmDiaz at An Ulterior Motive has already received this award, but he's getting it again, even though I'm jealous of him because he has more followers than me.

What about you? Who writes your favorite blog? And, if I didn't include you on my list, are you mad at me?

Amber, many thanks for the award! I'm totally flattered, and I'm sure Scott and Michelle are too. I was just saying to some people yesterday how important it is for me to feel cozy when I'm writing, so this award is pretty appropriate. As for my favorite blog, I'm not sure I have one. There are so many amazing people around, including you.

You are too kind. As for me, I find it hard to get through the day without checking what's up at Literary Rejections on Display (http://literaryrejectionsondisplay.blogspot.com/).

Nobody is using the mouse in teacup pic for the award--shocking. :) Glad I decided to take liberties and change it! lol I'll have to check out your suggestions, I haven't seen some of these before.

Awwe shucks... now all blushing and stuff. Btw, don't hold the followers against me. Contrary to what the police told me... people DO like stalkers.

And, nothing better than drunken blogging... like right now ;)

Amber,
I still haven't had the chance to pass on the love. Roni was kind enough to bestow me with said award and I have thus far shirked the responsibility of awarding 9 others. Now I am feeling rather ashamed:(

fetal friday?

I know that I left everyone hanging yesterday. You know, when I went to pee on that stick. (That was mean of me. Not the peeing, but the leaving hanging.) Well, I think the big reveal is best expressed in letter form. Deep breath. Here goes. dear unborn baby daughter son or daughter, I take it back. I take back everything I said about not wanting kids. I was just scaredspice, and the slightest bit selfish, and maybe I had a giant fear of commitment. But, three positive test results in the last eighteen hours seem to say that you actually are in there, getting all comfy. I guess you'll probably be here in mid-December. I never thought about having a Christmas baby. (You've really put a wrench in my whole taking-maternity-leave-during-the-NCAA-tournament plan, but that's okay. At least it's basketball season. Don't tell Daddy yet, but you are going to cheer for the Indiana Hoosiers.) Speaking of Daddy, I take back all the mean things I've ever sa...

Brett and Alice's Writing Style is the Real Crime Here

Here is a nearly sentence-by-sentence reconstruction of Brett and Alice's most recent episode of their podcast "The Prosecutors" - titled Adnan Syed is Guilty. I will not be utilizing the strikethrough in every sentence but will do so when I am compelled and will try to bold sections I've added. I've highlighted some of my favorite and most poignant edits.  I've tired and failed to stay away from a bit of snark. This endeavor was exhausting.  My work will illustrate how Brett Talley and Alice LaCour use narrative spin to bring you their version of events that they want to, for whatever reason, call "facts." I start just before the 4 minute mark.  Transcript So,, Adnan Syed and Hae Min Lee dated for quite some time  when they were in high school, starting around March 1998. They’d stay together for the next 9 months or so, though they broke up twice during that period.   They were on-again off-again until around Halloween and broke up for good before...

My "Fucher"

Over a year ago, my mom and dad decided to clean clutter out of their own house and, in an attempt to streamline, they went ahead and gave me boxes of things they had saved from my childhood -- if I'm honest, things I didn't really expect I see until they died or something gruesomespice like that. Whatever, it's fine. I'm not complaining about it, even though it isn't like I really have the room in my house for boxes of cards I was given when I was five, or worksheets and stories I wrote in the second grade. I hadn't even really dug into those boxes until last night. I found one little "story" I wrote (and we'll use the word story lightly here) called MY FUCHER. (It took me a minute to realize I'd meant MY FUTURE.) Hilar. My Fucher I want to mary a boy who will stay home all day and clean the house. I would not stay home. I would work as a singer or hope to. I want to have a babey girl. I would name her Lynn or Trecey or Nciol. I woul...
