Jodi Picoult: What's all the fuss?

I'm about to find out. I bought THE PACT today, because it was the cheapest of her reads available at Half-Price books.

I love that store.

When I pulled into the parking lot, there were half a dozen people carrying in boxes of books to sell. I thought for half a second that I might get a box together and do the same.

But, it's hard to part with books. I think I would end up buying them back.

@ Kay-tee: You must read The Lovely Bones. It is sooo wonderful. Definitely read it before you watch the movie!

@ Tina: Yeah, Twilight, me too. I've only read the first book in The Dark Tower series. I've been meaning to get to the rest for YEARS.

@ Trav: Ohh, Cold Mountain was GOOD! And Snow Falling on Cedars is one of my favorite titles of all time.

I LOVE JODI P. The Pact was the first one of hers that I read. IT IS SOOO GOOD. I have only disliked one book and 2 were okay, but the rest that I have read were AMAZING. I really liked Lovely Bones and am half-debating re-reading it before movie time. I have a hard time parting with books, but I think if I know the home thye are going to, it isn't all so bad.

Carol - I've never read the Monkey Wrench & Live Bait. What an interesting title. I'm so glad I wrote this post: lots of recs to keep in mind.

@ Melissa - I can still clearly remember my 4th grade teacher reading us A Wrinkle in Time. What a good book!

@ A Little Pink - I've never read P.S. I Love You. I didn't even realize that movie was based on a book! I vow hear and now to NEVER watch a movie again until I know for sure it wasn't adapted from a book. I would have rather read the book first! (I'm whining, it's early Monday morning.)

Ohh I have so many though I have to say that Jodi Picoult is one of my faves.. I love all the Ann Rice, Stephen King and Kean Koontz... but also love Alice Hoffman, Ayn Randm Dan Brown, Ken Follet, Anne Tyler, and Rick Moody. And so much more...

Last Call: John O'Keefe's Journey from Waterfall to Fairview (12:11:09am - 12:21:09)

I tend to bury the lead, so let me say this up front: I won't get to any of it in this post, but by 12:24:22am on January 29, 2022, John O'Keefe had arrived at 34 Fairview, gone into the house, been incapacitated, and had been dragged down the two short flights of stairs down to the basement, and up the stairs to and through the bulkhead door.  Yes. All of this happened by 12:24:22am. And here's how I started my research this week to figure it out: When I decided to look at timeline, I didn't think I'd spend all my free time in an entire DAY focusing on the short time frame of 12:11am - 12:21:09. I know that I left everyone hanging yesterday. You know, when I went to pee on that stick. (That was mean of me. Not the peeing, but the leaving hanging.) Well, I think the big reveal is best expressed in letter form. Deep breath. Here goes. dear unborn baby daughter son or daughter, I take it back. I take back everything I said about not wanting kids. I was just scaredspice, and the slightest bit selfish, and maybe I had a giant fear of commitment. But, three positive test results in the last eighteen hours seem to say that you actually are in there, getting all comfy. I guess you'll probably be here in mid-December. I never thought about having a Christmas baby. (You've really put a wrench in my whole taking-maternity-leave-during-the-NCAA-tournament plan, but that's okay. At least it's basketball season.
