ambiguous baby; contest extended

Well, I hope you've enjoyed the fourth and have extended your Independence Celebration, as I have, with a paid day off work! Hubs and I stayed in yesterday: I read, he cooked. We ate skewered shrimp and grilled pineapple, made s'mores, and watched our neighbors fireworks show. (I swear, they must have spent a small fortune.) It was a grand ol' time. I didn't change out of my pajamas all day, nor did I complete any tasks that one might call productive. That's why laundry, dishes, and some semblance of house cleaning are on the docket today.

But, first: an update on Baby Murphy. I went for the ultrasound Friday, and it.was.fantastic to see my little peanut's face.

Crazy/ Amazing.

The ultrasound tech got a pretty decent view of the private parts from the rear angle, and said the following, "Well, I don't really see anything sticking out... so I would say I was leaning toward girl, if I could just see a little more detail. "

I said, "So, what I'm hearing is 80/20 girl."

She's all, "I didn't say that! I really can't say with confidence either way. Sorry!!!"

Blast. I wanted to know for sure! I guess I'll leave the contest open, even though I feel like voting girl would now be the obvious choice. (I'm pretty sure we're having a girl. There was nothing sticking out!)

Here are the votes so far:

Girl
Lilly
Jen
Vicki Rocho
Frankie Diane Mallis
Christine Danek
B.E. Sanderson
Natalie Murphy

Boy
Jenna Wallace
MJenks
pinkflipflops
jayme @ kentucky blonde
a little pink in the cornfields

A Griffin
Travener

I've decided that everyone who submitted a guess will receive an entry whether or not they guess correctly, because I'm nice like that. Also, the prize is still a mystery... so that makes this contest more specialspice.

Hopefully, I'll have another ultrasound July 30th, so the madness should end then.

Thank you. Over and out.

I hate when that crap happens!!! So when is the next time you get to go back and try again? The little stinker shouldn't be leaving you in antcipation like that!!!

My entry still stands, I'm going for a girl on this one! :) Sounds like your 4th was exactly like mine... PERFECT!

Awww dang! The suspense is killing me. I'm glad things are good. I'm still voting for girl. Oh and I'm coming to your house for dinner. You have teased me with your yummy menu.
Take care.
Seriously. Tell that kid to spread 'em so you can get this contest over with! Rebellion in the womb can only mean rebellion as a teenager! Also, you missed my vote for girl that I made AGES ago. Don't worry, it's coolspice, I blame pregger-brain :p
OMG! I'm dying here to know if its really a girl!!!

A griffin!? Well, in that case, I'm casting my vote for a Na'vi. Boy, will THAT be painful to push out. I recommend the epidural at 38 weeks or so, and just keep the drip going till you're done. Yes.

(Also, congratulationspice on the first images of your wee person.)

Those new ultrasounds are wild. Sounds like your baby outwitted the latest technology. You have to watch out for the really smart babies because before you know it, they know more than you. ;o)

Congratulations again.

They couldn't really tell on my daughter, either. She was a prim and proper lady and wouldn't uncross her legs.

I'm voting for girl since no obvious male parts were showing. Although, it still could be a boy.

fetal friday?

I know that I left everyone hanging yesterday. You know, when I went to pee on that stick. (That was mean of me. Not the peeing, but the leaving hanging.) Well, I think the big reveal is best expressed in letter form. Deep breath. Here goes. dear unborn baby daughter son or daughter, I take it back. I take back everything I said about not wanting kids. I was just scaredspice, and the slightest bit selfish, and maybe I had a giant fear of commitment. But, three positive test results in the last eighteen hours seem to say that you actually are in there, getting all comfy. I guess you'll probably be here in mid-December. I never thought about having a Christmas baby. (You've really put a wrench in my whole taking-maternity-leave-during-the-NCAA-tournament plan, but that's okay. At least it's basketball season. Don't tell Daddy yet, but you are going to cheer for the Indiana Hoosiers.) Speaking of Daddy, I take back all the mean things I've ever sa...

Brett and Alice's Writing Style is the Real Crime Here

Here is a nearly sentence-by-sentence reconstruction of Brett and Alice's most recent episode of their podcast "The Prosecutors" - titled Adnan Syed is Guilty. I will not be utilizing the strikethrough in every sentence but will do so when I am compelled and will try to bold sections I've added. I've highlighted some of my favorite and most poignant edits.  I've tired and failed to stay away from a bit of snark. This endeavor was exhausting.  My work will illustrate how Brett Talley and Alice LaCour use narrative spin to bring you their version of events that they want to, for whatever reason, call "facts." I start just before the 4 minute mark.  Transcript So,, Adnan Syed and Hae Min Lee dated for quite some time  when they were in high school, starting around March 1998. They’d stay together for the next 9 months or so, though they broke up twice during that period.   They were on-again off-again until around Halloween and broke up for good before...
