Overexposure

Did anyone else have their holiday weekend interrupted with work today?

The tyrptophan has not even worn of yet, and I'm back at the bank. Clearly, it is the slowest day of the year, as the Black Friday shoppers have no money left to deposit, and the sane folk are warm at home, eating turkey omelets and watching football. (Louisville's game starts at 11:00 this morning, in order for us to share our losing season with a national audience on ESPN 2. Suffice it to say, it wasn't too much of a sacrifice to come to work rather than attending the last home game of the season. It's like fourty degrees outside, so the weather is even less desirable than the dismal number in the Cardinal-win-column.)

In other news, I learned a lesson yesterday. If one wants to keep her blog semi-separate from her "real" life, mentioning said blog in a facebook status update is really not the way to go... especially on or near a Thursday, in my case.

Last night, my brother-in-law said, "So, it's TMI Thursday, right?" Before I knew it my sister was reading my post from his i-phone, with my mother over her shoulder, wondering what she was doing.

"Just reading something," said my sister with a grin.

(Thankfully, my husband was in a full-on turkey coma on the couch.)

Oh. my. God. Don't. show. Mom.

Oye, I worked at a bank for 8 years... It was always dead on black friday. BOO. Sometimes I wish my family didn't know about my blog so I can freely talk about anything and everything. :/

My kids discovered my blog and my foul mouth, though I suppose it wasn't that much of a surprise to them. I'm too often like the dad in the movie A Christmas Story. My wife remains clueless about the blog, though I haven't used the opportunity to take any swipes at her. Yet.

I have the hardest time imagining the Amber Murphy we've gotten to know and love on her blog working in such a staid environment as a bank. Well, we all live interior lives, I guess...
@ Shandal - So, you know my pain. But, since we get 10 paid holidays a year, I can't complain too much about working today.

@ Trav - It IS odd that I work at a bank. My BA is in English, and I always planned on teaching high school. I don't like math, and I joke that being a banker makes the left side of my brain hurt.

My family is reading my blog which makes it difficult. I could write some great stuff if I didn't have to worry about pissing somebody off...
nor should you probably use your name since it's easily googleable

My family reads my blog, so I don't post anything that feels TMI.

My husband went to the bank today. Neeners.

I was working today, too. I guess it's true what they say, "No rest for the wicked!"

Yeah, I think you may have yourself some permanent lurkers. That's too funny.

Hahahaha! Oh man. I totally know how you feel. I just pretend I don't know my mom and sister are reading... denial, denial, denial!

All I have to say is, separate FB!

Let me first start off by saying that I do enjoy reading Amber's blogs, but not with the intent that most family members have. You see, Amber and I... We just get each other; maybe it's that we both understand living with her sister (my wife), or something else, but we get along well.

I think that she is a brilliant writer who speaks from the heart no matter what the topic is. I also really enjoy the strikeouts!

So whether she is writing for personal reasons, emotional reasons, or because she sees it as a place to vent, that is not for me to judge... No permanent lurkers here... I prefer the term - follower :)

To Amber: Feel free to write away, because whether this is a secret or not, I'll read with a zipped lip and will always look forward to TMI Thursdays :)

By the way... if you need help with your gutters, you have my number :)

Closing Arguments, Trial 3. The Defense: Closing the Case of Adnan Syed v Alice LaCour and Brett Talley

Would Hae Have Liked Pineapple on Pizza? If it Pleases the Court... Ladies and Gentlemen of the jury, I want to start by thanking you for your time. It is no small task to put your lives on hold and focus in on the details and particulars and specifics of this case, and it may be a struggle to focus when you have to think about what you're missing at home. Your civil duty - and your willingness to fulfill it - does NOT go unnoticed. I mentioned "time." It's a relative, term, right? I had to wait in line at the post office for 15 minutes. I waited for the checkout gal at Wal-Mart for 20, because they didn't have enough lanes open. I don't know about you, but I try to be patient. Sometimes I fail to wait gracefully, but I really do try.  So. Look at Adnan. For over TWENTY-THREE YEARS he has been waiting... patiently. 23 years ago, I was about the same age as Adnan. I graduated high school in the spring of 1999, just like he did - or would have - had he not bee

20 Points in a Basic Story in the Botched Case Against Adnan Syed: I Must Be Insane as that's 5x More than any Other Basic Story Presentation I've Ever Seen

Basic Story With 20 Points:  Could Adnan be Innocent? "It's not a cop-out; it's case law." ~Bob Ruff, host, Truth and Justice Pod   1 Adnan was the main suspect - Hae's family passed that along to Officer Adcock on the afternoon she disappeared. Originally, they suspected she might be with Don, even though she had to work at 6pm and had never once NOT brought her cousin home. Does anyone know how old the second cousin is? Two cousins lived with Hae. And Officer Adcock's Supplemental Report dated 1/13/99 states that Mr. Lee advises that she "did not pick up his two cousins from school.") Did they go to the same school, these cousins? Another question that could be explored is why Hae's uncle is the only immediately family member who doesn't live with Hae.  Another pain point for me - I'm confused as to why the cousins did not live with their dad, Hae's uncle... but look. Every family has different dynamics. I mean, I gues

Not The Nisha Call: Other Things to Consider in the Case of Adnan Syed

"If there is anything about my case, man - I want to know... I want to test it... There's nothing about my case that that I'm afraid of." - Adnan Syed Serial, Episode 12: What We Knew Instead of focusing on a flower and Jay's Changing Stories, Consider This: A) The policemen handling the Missing Persons Investigation did sloppy and lazy work. They back dated reports and failed to interview multiple people  thoroughly enough. B) The police did not interview the family robustly enough to understand what else might have been going on in Hae's life. They, to my knowledge, did not find a translator and instead relied on the guidance of her younger brother. C) A computer, a floppy disk containing electronic diary entries were noted and later went "missing"  D) Hae's email and AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) accounts were never researched thoroughly, and her online activity is relatively unknown, outside of her newly updated "away message" which s
